1.1 The Excel Interface
When you open a blank workbook in Microsoft 365 you see these parts:

Mitrano, the formula bar is your best friend. A cell may show ₹1,250 but the formula bar tells you whether it is a typed number or a formula like =B2*C2. Doubt aala ki formula bar bagha.
Steps in Excel
- File › New › Blank workbook (or Ctrl + N).
- Click cell C5. See
C5in the Name Box. - Type
=10*3and press Enter. The cell shows 30; click it again and the formula bar shows=10*3. - Select a few numbers and look at the status bar: Average, Count, Sum appear automatically.
- Press Ctrl + F1 to collapse or expand the ribbon.
Worked example. Ruhi Bagale, a Blinkit store analyst in Kothrud, selects the Amount cells of today's orders. Without typing any formula, the status bar shows Sum: ₹18,450 and Count: 212. That is the fastest "quick check" in Excel.

Practice task
Add Save, Undo, Redo and Sort A to Z to your Quick Access Toolbar. Then set the status bar to also show Minimum and Maximum.
