What this card says
Why do we need it?
Students create EKS “to learn k8s” and leave the cluster up for days.
What is it?
EKS charges a flat hourly control-plane fee even with zero pods. Workers and load balancers add more.
How to do it
Delete lab clusters the same day. Prefer ECS Fargate for cheap Docker labs.
Delete same day
Example
An empty EKS cluster overnight still appears as EKS hours on the bill.
