35.9 Executive Management
Business question. In one screen, are the six cities on target this month, yes or no, without a second click?
Tables. Reuse one fact you already trust (wholesale Sale from 35.2, or the Module 28 orders). Add CityTarget at month grain. Do not build a new grain for the executive page.
Measures. Reuse [Total Sales], [Target], [Achievement %]. Add a status that matches a rule you write on the page:
Status =
SWITCH(TRUE(),
ISBLANK([Achievement %]), "No target",
[Achievement %] >= 1, "On track",
"Behind")
Pages. A 16:9 page (section 23.2). Five or fewer visuals: a title with the month (SELECTEDVALUE), four cards, one bar by city coloured with the status measure (section 20.6). A button to a detail page, not a second copy of the chart. Mobile layout (section 24.6) with the cards first.
Sample layout — fictional data. The picture uses the worked rows in this brief. It does not add a table.
The executive page does not get its own DAX for "growth" unless you already tested YoY in section 13.16. A wrong growth card is worse than no growth card.
Worked rows (fictional sample data). Same city totals as section 35.2. Status uses the measure on this page: 100% or more is On track, below that is Behind.
| City | Sales | Target | Achievement | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pune | ₹4,000 | ₹5,000 | 80% | Behind |
| Nashik | ₹2,500 | ₹2,000 | 125% | On track |
| Kolhapur | ₹1,000 | ₹3,000 | 33% | Behind |
| Nagpur | ₹3,500 | ₹3,500 | 100% | On track |
| Mumbai | ₹2,000 | ₹2,500 | 80% | Behind |
| Sambhaji Nagar | ₹1,500 | ₹2,000 | 75% | Behind |
Company achievement is ₹14,500 ÷ ₹18,000 = 80.6%, so the company status is Behind. Two cities are On track. Four are Behind.
Starter file: brief_35_9_city_targets.csv – the worked rows above as a CSV (fictional practice data). Load it with Get data › Text/CSV, build the measures, then check your cards.
Expected values to check
Company achievement 80.6% (Behind) · On track 2 cities · Behind 4 cities
| Good KPI | Vanity metric | |
|---|---|---|
| From the same rows | Status by city (Nashik and Nagpur On track) | A single green story because "sales happened" |
| Why | Rani's question on this page is on track or behind. The answer is Behind, with Nashik and Nagpur as the exceptions. | A company sales card of ₹14,500 has no target next to it and will be read as a good month. |
What the manager does. The Pune manager sees Behind and ₹1,000 short, and does not point at Nashik's 125% as "the company recovered". The Nashik manager stays On track in this file and does not get extra charts on the executive page. Drill-through holds the salesperson rows. The executive page holds the status.
Ravindra Bagale's Tip
Many students put every chart they know on the executive page. Rani needs the answer to one question: on track or behind. Everything else goes on drill-through. A full page does not make it an executive page. Remember this rule.
Ravindra Bagale's Tip –
Ravindra Bagale's Tip –
