18.2 Adding Fields to the Tooltip

Steps in Power BI

  1. Select the bar chart "Orders by City".
  2. In Build visual, drag [AOV], [Avg Delivery Time (mins)] and [Cancellation Rate] into the Tooltips well.
  3. Hover over a bar. The tooltip now shows four values.
  4. To change how a tooltip field is summarised, use the drop-down on the field in the Tooltips well (e.g. Average, Count (Distinct)) or, better, use explicit measures.
  5. Rename a field for this visual only: double-click it in the well (e.g. "Avg mins").

Tip

Mhanje asa: tooltips are a great place for secondary KPIs. The chart stays clean, and the detail is one hover away.

Ek common chuk mhanje adding too many fields to the Tooltips well, so the tooltip becomes a wall of numbers. Add two or three measures that answer the next obvious question, udaharan mhanje Orders and Avg Delivery Time on a sales-by-city chart. Punha ekda karun bagha, mag pudhe jaa.
