QuillBot vs Grammarly vs ChatGPT for Rewriting (Students and Office)

Three common rewrite helpers: QuillBot (paraphrase modes), Grammarly (grammar + clarity), and ChatGPT (flexible rewrite with prompts). As of 23 October 2026, QuillBot lists Free and Premium (Premium often about $8.33/month billed yearly or higher monthly — confirm checkout). Grammarly lists Free and paid Pro-style plans (verify live). ChatGPT Free exists; Plus is often about $20/month (USD). Do not invent INR. Never submit AI text as your own exam answer. Use these tools to improve clarity, then write like yourself.

Suppose you wrote a messy email to a manager and a draft paragraph for class. You want clearer English without sounding like a robot. This guide shows when to pick QuillBot, Grammarly or ChatGPT — and how to stay honest.

What you will learn in this guide

  • What each tool is best at
  • Price-check habit
  • Soften a harsh email
  • Shorten a long paragraph
  • Keep meaning for exam notes
  • Honest-use rules

1. Suppose Amit has a harsh draft email

Suppose Amit wrote: "You forgot the file again. Fix it today." He needs a polite office version. Grammarly can flag tone. ChatGPT can rewrite with a prompt. QuillBot can paraphrase. Amit still sends his words.

2. What each tool is good at

Tool Best for Watch out
QuillBot Paraphrase modes (Fluency, Formal, Shorten…) Meaning can drift — re-read
Grammarly Spelling, grammar, clarity, tone hints Not a research source
ChatGPT Flexible rewrite with your instructions Can invent facts if you ask poorly
Honest rewrite in five steps Steps from top to bottom: 1 Write your draft first, Your facts and your voice; 2 Pick one tool for the job, QuillBot Grammarly or ChatGPT; 3 Ask for clearer English, No new facts or deadlines; 4 Compare side by side, Fix any changed numbers; 5 Send your final words, Follow college or office rules. 1Write your draft firstYour facts and your voice 2Pick one tool for the jobQuillBot Grammarly or ChatGPT 3Ask for clearer EnglishNo new facts or deadlines 4Compare side by sideFix any changed numbers 5Send your final wordsFollow college or office rules

Figure 1. Honest rewrite in five steps: write your draft first, pick one tool for the job, ask for clearer English without new facts, compare side by side, then send your final words.

3. Pricing habit (checked 23 October 2026)

Tool Verify on Beginner plan note
QuillBot quillbot.com pricing Free + Premium; yearly often cheaper than monthly
Grammarly grammarly.com pricing Free + paid; confirm India checkout
ChatGPT chatgpt.com / openai.com pricing Free + Plus (~$20/mo USD often)

Open the live plan page before you pay. App Store INR can differ from web USD.

4. Worked example 1: soften a harsh email (Grammarly or ChatGPT)

Draft (yours):

You forgot the file again. Fix it today.

ChatGPT prompt:

Rewrite this email for an Indian office. Keep the request clear.
Be polite, short, and firm. Do not add new facts or deadlines I did not write.
Original:
You forgot the file again. Fix it today.

Grammarly path: paste into Grammarly → check tone → accept only suggestions you understand.

Expected output (example shape): "Could you please share the file today? I need it to finish the report. Thank you." — still edit to match your voice.

Ravindra Bagale's Tip

Students paste AI rewrites into exams. Teachers notice. Use AI for practice English, then write the final exam yourself.

5. Worked example 2: shorten a long paragraph (QuillBot Shorten)

  1. Paste your long paragraph into QuillBot.
  2. Choose a Shorten / Concise mode (names vary by plan).
  3. Compare side by side. Restore any number, date or name the tool changed.
  4. If meaning drifted, undo and try Formal instead of Creative.
  5. Copy the final text into your document only after you re-read it aloud.

Expected output: a shorter paragraph with the same facts.

6. Worked example 3: keep meaning for exam notes (ChatGPT)

I am preparing notes for class. Rewrite in simpler English for a beginner.
Do NOT add new facts, dates, or numbers.
Keep all names exactly the same.
Mark any sentence you are unsure about with [CHECK].
Text:
[paste your notes]
  1. Ask ChatGPT with the prompt above.
  2. Resolve every [CHECK] using your textbook — not the chat.
  3. Write a clean version in your notebook by hand once (helps memory).

Expected output: simpler notes without invented content.

7. Honest-use rules for students and office

  1. Your college or company may ban AI for graded work — ask first.
  2. Never paste customer PII, passwords or Aadhaar into rewrite tools.
  3. Do not use AI to hide plagiarism. Paraphrase of stolen text is still theft.
  4. Keep an original draft file so you can show your process if asked.
  5. Prefer Grammarly for light polish; QuillBot for paraphrase practice; ChatGPT for instruction-heavy rewrites.

8. Beginner mistakes and quick fixes

Mistake What happens Quick fix
Blind accept Wrong meaning Side-by-side compare
Invented deadlines in AI rewrite Office confusion "Do not add new facts"
Paying all three Premiums Waste Start Free
Using Creative for legal text Risk Formal + human lawyer
Pasting secrets Leak Strip personal data

9. Try at home

Try at home

  1. Soften one real draft email (example 1).
  2. Shorten one study paragraph (example 2).
  3. Ask a friend if the result still sounds like you.

Recap

In short

  1. QuillBot paraphrases; Grammarly polishes; ChatGPT rewrites with prompts.
  2. Check live prices; Free is enough to learn.
  3. Never add facts the tool invented.
  4. Follow college / office AI rules.
  5. Final words must be yours.

Draft yourself, clarify with a tool, re-read every line. That is honest rewriting.
