AI Photo Prompts for Boys and Girls: Copy-Paste for ChatGPT and Gemini

You can turn one clear selfie into a studio, festival or travel-style portrait by uploading it to ChatGPT or Gemini and pasting a detailed prompt. As of 25 October 2026, both apps let signed-in users edit photos on the free plan with daily limits that change often, so check the limit shown in your app. Always say “keep my face exactly the same”, use only your own photo or one you have permission for, and never make fake ID, celebrity or someone-else photos.

Suppose Arjun from Nashik and Maria from Lisbon both want a new profile photo. Arjun wants a Diwali kurta look; Maria wants a clean studio shot for LinkedIn. Both upload one sharp selfie, paste a prompt, and fix small mistakes with a second short prompt. That is the whole skill: one good photo, one detailed prompt, one fix-up prompt.

What you will learn in this guide

  • Why the face changes
  • Five prompt parts
  • Boys and girls prompt sets
  • Fix-up prompts
  • Safety and consent rules

1. Why: one selfie, many looks

A photo studio session can cost time and money. AI photo editing gives a free first draft in a minute. But many people get a different face, extra fingers or a fake-looking skin. That happens when the prompt is short. A longer prompt with clear parts fixes most of it.

2. What: the five parts of a good photo prompt

Part Example words
Keep Keep my face, hair and skin tone exactly the same
Clothes Navy blue kurta / white shirt / yellow saree
Place Studio grey wall / Diwali diyas / beach at sunset
Light and camera Soft window light, 85mm portrait, shallow depth
Size Vertical 4:5 for Instagram, or square

Figure 1. AI photo prompt in five steps: pick one sharp selfie, open the official app, paste the full prompt, fix with a short prompt, then download and check.

3. How: make your first AI portrait

  1. Pick one sharp, front-facing photo of yourself in daylight.
  2. Open the official ChatGPT or Gemini app or website and sign in.
  3. Tap the + or image button and upload the photo.
  4. Paste one prompt from the examples below and send.
  5. If something is wrong, send one short fix-up prompt.
  6. Download the image and look closely at eyes, hands and text.

4. Limits and rules (25 Oct 2026)

  • Free plans in both apps allow image edits with daily limits; the limit changes, so read the message your app shows.
  • Both apps refuse some edits of real people, especially public figures. Do not try to get around this.
  • Gemini adds an invisible SynthID watermark to AI images; ChatGPT images carry C2PA content credentials. Do not remove them.

5. Worked example 1: simple studio portrait (start here)

Upload your selfie, then paste:

Edit this photo. Keep my face, hair and skin tone exactly the same.
Change the background to a plain light-grey studio wall.
Soft front light, sharp focus on eyes, natural skin texture.
Vertical 4:5 portrait.

Expected output (yours will be similar, not the same):

A clean head-and-shoulders photo of you on a grey background, same face, softer light.

6. Worked example 2: boys festival look

For a Diwali or Eid post:

Edit this photo. Keep my face exactly the same, do not change my features.
Dress me in a navy blue silk kurta with a light golden border.
Background: warm evening with blurred diyas and marigold flowers.
Warm golden light, 85mm portrait look, slight smile kept as in the original.
No text on the image. Vertical 4:5.

Expected output (yours will be similar, not the same):

You in a navy kurta, warm lights behind you, face unchanged.

7. Worked example 3: girls travel and fix-up prompt

First the main prompt, then a short fix-up if needed:

Edit this photo. Keep my face, hairstyle and skin tone exactly the same.
Place me at a sunny beach in Goa at golden hour, wind gently moving my hair.
Outfit: white cotton dress. Natural, realistic photo, no beauty filter.
Vertical 9:16 for a story.

--- fix-up prompt (send only if needed) ---
Keep everything the same, but make my eyes look exactly like the original photo.

Expected output (yours will be similar, not the same):

A realistic beach portrait; after the fix-up, the eyes match your original selfie.

Change only one thing per fix-up prompt. Asking for five changes at once usually changes the face too.

Names, amounts and companies in the examples are made up for practice.

8. Common mistakes

Mistake Risk Fix
Very short prompt Different face Use all five parts
Blurry group selfie Wrong person edited One clear solo photo
Editing a friend without asking Consent problem Ask first
Fake ID or uniform photo Can be illegal Never do it
Cracked “pro” APK Malware Official apps only

9. Try at home

Try at home

  1. Run the studio prompt on your own selfie.
  2. Change only the clothes line and run again.
  3. Compare ChatGPT and Gemini results side by side.

Recap

In short

  1. One sharp solo photo works best.
  2. Write keep, clothes, place, light and size.
  3. Fix one thing at a time.
  4. Free plans have daily limits that change.
  5. No fake IDs, celebrities or other people without consent.

Keep the face, change the scene. One fix at a time.

Frequently asked questions

Is this free?

Both ChatGPT and Gemini let signed-in users edit some images on free plans, with daily limits. The exact number changes, so check your app.

Why does my face look different?

Your prompt is probably short or asks for many changes. Add “keep my face exactly the same” and change one thing at a time.

Can I use these for a passport or ID photo?

No. Official ID photos must be real, unedited photos. Use these only for social posts or fun.

Can I edit a photo of my friend?

Only with their permission, and never in a way that embarrasses or misleads.
