Gemini Pro Free for Students and Jio Users (2026): Who Qualifies and How to Claim

There are two official ways to get a paid Gemini plan free in India on 19 October 2026. Jio users aged 18+ on an eligible plan (Unlimited 5G at ₹349 or more; Jio also lists some ₹299 plans) can claim 18 months of Google AI Pro (₹1,950 a month value) in the MyJio app; Jio's terms say the offer period ends on 29 October 2026 unless extended. College students aged 18+ can claim 12 months of Google AI Plus at one.google.com/ai-student until 31 December 2026; it then costs ₹399 a month unless cancelled. The free Pro offer for students has been replaced by AI Plus.

1. Suppose Sahil and his sister want Gemini Pro

Suppose Sahil is 22, studies engineering in Aurangabad and has a Jio prepaid SIM on a ₹349 plan. His sister Neha is 19, in college, and uses another network. Both saw a reel saying "Gemini Pro free for all students". Sahil can claim the Jio offer for 18 months of AI Pro. Neha cannot use Jio's offer on her network, but she can claim the student AI Plus offer. The reel was out of date for both of them.

2. The two offers side by side (checked on 19 October 2026)

Google AI Pro costs ₹1,950 a month in India, so Jio's 18 months are worth ₹35,100, the figure on Jio's page.

3. Worked example 1: claim the Jio offer

1. Make sure your Jio number has an eligible plan active (Unlimited 5G of ₹349 or more).
2. Update and open the MyJio app, logged in with that Jio number.
3. Tap the Google Gemini offer banner on the home screen.
4. Tap Claim, then sign in with the personal Gmail you want the plan on. It cannot be moved to another account later.
5. Open the Gemini app with the same Gmail and check that your plan shows Google AI Pro.

Expected output: a Google One page confirming Google AI Pro, and higher limits in the Gemini app. If the banner does not show, check you are logged in with the Jio SIM itself and that your plan is eligible, then contact JioCare from the app.

4. Worked example 2: claim the student offer

1. Go to one.google.com/ai-student with your personal Google account (not a school-issued account).
2. Choose the student offer and verify through SheerID with your college email or student documents.
3. Add a payment method (required). You are not charged during the 12 months.
4. Set a reminder to cancel before the 12 months end if you do not want to pay ₹399 a month.

Expected output: Google AI Plus on your account for 12 months, with 400 GB of storage. Google says eligibility must be verified each year to keep access.

5. Worked example 3: the dates to remember (Python)

Both offers have a claim deadline, an end date and an "after" rule. This script works them out from the day you claim.

Change claim_day to your own activation date. The script keeps the day of the month at 28 or below so every month exists; your real end date is shown in your Google One settings.

6. When the offer ends: storage and billing

• Jio offer: after 18 months the plan ends and does not renew. You can buy AI Pro from Jio or Google at the market rate. If you leave Jio, or your eligible recharge lapses, Jio can stop or suspend the plan.
• Student offer: after 12 months it charges ₹399 a month unless you cancel first.
• Storage drops to 15 GB on a free account. If you are using more, you cannot add new files or back up photos, and Gmail can stop sending and receiving until you free space. Download or delete big files a month before the end.

7. Scams to avoid

• Only claim in MyJio or on one.google.com. Never on a link from a stranger's WhatsApp message.
• Never share an OTP to "activate Gemini Pro" for someone.
• No one sells this offer. If someone asks money for a "Gemini Pro key", it is a scam.
• Check the address bar shows one.google.com or gemini.google.com before you sign in.
