How to Make AI Videos for YouTube for Free (2026): Shorts, Labels and Monetization
To make an AI video for YouTube for free in October 2026: write the script with a free chatbot, record your own voice on your phone, make short AI clips with Gemini Omni in the YouTube Create app (vertical clips up to 10 seconds, offered in India on mobile to a limited number of creators) or turn your own photos into clips with Google Photos "Photo to video", then edit and upload. If any clip looks real but did not happen, choose Yes under "AI use" in YouTube Studio when you upload. To earn money, the channel must be original: mass-produced, repetitive videos are not eligible for monetization.
Students often ask me for "the free AI tool that makes the whole YouTube video". There is no single honest button like that, and channels built on one usually struggle to earn. What works is a small pipeline where AI does the slow parts (script draft, extra shots, captions) and you add the part only you can add: your voice, your teaching, your opinion. In this guide we build one Short and one story Short with free tools, then run a before-upload check that tells you when to label and what risks monetization.
Full course chapters
This guide is about making the video itself with free AI tools. The course chapter on channels covers scripts, thumbnails, captions and a 30-day plan: AI for YouTube and Reels. For directing a clip from one photo, read Image-to-Video Explained and the guide AI Video from a Photo: Free and Paid Ways.

What you will learn in this guide
- The free tools for each step
- Making clips in YouTube Create
- Two Shorts, built step by step
- When to choose "AI use: Yes"
- What blocks monetization
- A before-upload check script
1. Suppose Aarav wants a channel but has no camera
Suppose Aarav teaches Excel tips to his cousins and wants to post Shorts. He has a phone, no camera, no budget, and is shy on camera. Can AI help him make videos for free? Yes, if he splits the video into steps and lets AI do only some of them.
2. The free pipeline, step by step
| Step | Free tool (October 2026) | What you add |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Script | ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude, free plans | Your topic, your examples |
| 2. Voice | Your phone's voice recorder | Your real voice and accent |
| 3. Main footage | Screen recording, or your own photos and clips | What you are teaching |
| 4. Extra shots | Gemini Omni in YouTube Create; Google Photos "Photo to video" | A shot card (subject, motion, light) |
| 5. Edit, captions, music | YouTube Create app | Cuts, timing, checking captions |
| 6. Upload | YouTube Studio | Title, description, "AI use" answer |
What each AI tool does:
- YouTube Create + Gemini Omni: type a prompt (up to 900 characters), add up to 3 reference images, pick a light such as Golden hour, and get a vertical clip up to 10 seconds. YouTube marks these features as experimental and available to a limited number of creators; on 19 October 2026 the help page listed India for mobile.
- YouTube Create "Edit with AI": pick 1 to 25 of your own clips and photos; it makes a first draft with music, captions and voiceover that you then edit. Available in India.
- YouTube Create + Nano Banana: make an image from a prompt (users over 18), then tap Create Video to turn it into an 8-second clip.
- Google Photos "Photo to video": turns a backed-up photo into a short clip, free with a daily limit.
Paid options exist (for example video in the Gemini app needs a Google AI plan), but you do not need them to start. The Sora app is not an option: it shut down on 26 April 2026.
Figure 1. A free AI video pipeline for YouTube: script, your voice, main footage, AI extra shots, edit and captions, then upload with the right "AI use" answer.
3. Worked example 1: a 30-second Excel Short
Goal: "3 Excel shortcuts that save time", 30 seconds, vertical.
- Script prompt (free chatbot):
Write a 30-second YouTube Shorts script for beginners: 3 Excel shortcuts
(Ctrl+Shift+L, Ctrl+T, Alt+=). Hook in the first 2 seconds, one line per shortcut,
a closing question. Simple English, under 75 words. Add on-screen text for each line.
- Voice: read the script into your phone recorder, twice, and keep the better take.
- Footage: screen-record yourself pressing each shortcut on a dummy sheet.
- Extra shot (optional): in YouTube Create, generate a 3-second intro clip: "a tidy desk with a laptop showing a green spreadsheet, soft morning light, slow push-in".
- Edit: in YouTube Create, line up voice and screen recording, add captions, then read every caption; fix spelling of "Ctrl" and the formulas.
Expected output (yours will be similar, not the same): a script like "Still filtering by hand? Ctrl+Shift+L adds filters in one go. Ctrl+T turns data into a table. Alt+= adds a SUM instantly. Which one was new for you?", and a 25 to 35 second Short. Check the shortcuts yourself in Excel before posting; a script can contain wrong shortcuts.
AI use answer: No. AI wrote the script and an intro shot of a desk that is not realistic news or a real person. Scripts, captions and ideas do not need disclosure.
4. Worked example 2: a 3-shot story Short
Goal: a 20-second story "Monsoon evening in Pune" for a poetry channel, with your own voice reading a short poem you wrote.
Write one shot card per clip, then paste each into Gemini Omni in YouTube Create:
Shot 1: Rain falling on a quiet street with old houses, evening, wet road reflecting
street lights. Camera: slow pan left. Light: Blue hour. Sound: soft rain. 8 seconds.
Shot 2: A cup of tea on a window sill, rain drops on the glass behind it.
Camera: still, shallow focus. Light: warm lamp inside. Sound: rain and a distant train. 6 seconds.
Shot 3: A child's paper boat floating in a small rain stream beside the road.
Camera: low angle, slow follow. Light: Moonlight. Sound: water. 6 seconds.
Expected output (yours will be similar, not the same): three vertical clips you add to the timeline, then your voice reading the poem over them. If a clip shows odd details (extra hands, melting text on signs), regenerate with one simpler motion.
AI use answer: Yes. The scenes look real but did not happen, so choose Yes under "AI use" (earlier help pages called this the "altered or synthetic content" setting). Clips made with YouTube's own AI tools are labelled automatically as well. The label alone does not limit your audience or your ability to earn.
Ravindra Bagale's Tip
Many beginners upload 50 look-alike AI videos a month with a robot voice and wonder why monetization is refused. Make fewer videos with your own voice and your own teaching; YouTube monetizes original work, not volume.
5. Worked example 3: a before-upload check (Python)
This script turns YouTube's disclosure and monetization rules into a checklist for any video plan.
# Before-upload check for an AI-assisted YouTube video.
# Rules summarised from YouTube Help pages read on 19 October 2026.
REALISTIC = {"real_person_says_or_does", "altered_real_event_or_place",
"realistic_scene_that_did_not_happen", "ai_music_main_focus"}
def check(video):
notes = []
hits = REALISTIC & set(video["ai_parts"])
if hits:
notes.append("AI use: choose YES in Studio > Attributes (" + ", ".join(sorted(hits)) + ")")
else:
notes.append("AI use: NO is fine (only scripts, captions, non-realistic or minor AI)")
if video["made_with_youtube_ai"]:
notes.append("Label: YouTube adds an AI label to clips made with its own AI tools")
if not video["own_voice_or_footage"]:
notes.append("Monetization risk: add your own voice, footage or teaching")
if video["same_template_daily"]:
notes.append("Monetization risk: mass-produced, repetitive videos are not eligible")
if video["real_person_without_consent"]:
notes.append("STOP: never show a real person without consent")
return notes
videos = {
"Excel shortcuts Short": dict(ai_parts={"script"}, made_with_youtube_ai=False,
own_voice_or_footage=True, same_template_daily=False, real_person_without_consent=False),
"Pune monsoon story Short": dict(ai_parts={"realistic_scene_that_did_not_happen"},
made_with_youtube_ai=True, own_voice_or_footage=True, same_template_daily=False,
real_person_without_consent=False),
"50 AI facts a day": dict(ai_parts={"script", "ai_music_main_focus"}, made_with_youtube_ai=False,
own_voice_or_footage=False, same_template_daily=True, real_person_without_consent=False),
}
for name, v in videos.items():
print(name)
for n in check(v):
print(" -", n)
Real output (19 October 2026):
Excel shortcuts Short
- AI use: NO is fine (only scripts, captions, non-realistic or minor AI)
Pune monsoon story Short
- AI use: choose YES in Studio > Attributes (realistic_scene_that_did_not_happen)
- Label: YouTube adds an AI label to clips made with its own AI tools
50 AI facts a day
- AI use: choose YES in Studio > Attributes (ai_music_main_focus)
- Monetization risk: add your own voice, footage or teaching
- Monetization risk: mass-produced, repetitive videos are not eligible
The third plan is the "AI channel in one click" idea. The check shows why it struggles: no own voice or teaching, and a repeating template.
6. Labels, consent and monetization in plain words
Choose "AI use: Yes" when the AI part looks real and:
- shows a real person saying or doing something they did not,
- changes footage of a real event or place,
- shows a realistic scene that did not happen, or
- uses AI music as the main focus.
You can choose No for: AI scripts, ideas, titles, thumbnails, captions, beauty or colour filters, cartoon or fantasy scenes, and dubbing in your own cloned voice.
Since May 2026 YouTube can also add AI labels itself for photorealistic AI, for clips made with its own tools and for files with C2PA metadata. You get a notice in Studio. Labels on clips made with YouTube's AI tools cannot be removed.
For money (YouTube Partner Program): your channel must be original and add value. Mass-produced, generic, repetitive or manipulative videos are not eligible. Creators who keep hiding realistic AI can lose content or be suspended from the programme.
Never make a real person, a celebrity or a friend appear in a video without consent. That is a deepfake, even "for fun".
7. Beginner mistakes and quick fixes
| Mistake | What happens | Quick fix |
|---|---|---|
| One-click "faceless" videos daily | Monetization refused | Fewer videos, your voice and teaching |
| Not checking AI captions | Wrong words on screen | Read every caption before export |
| Choosing No for a realistic AI scene | Penalties, label added anyway | Choose Yes under "AI use" |
| Using a real person's face or voice | Deepfake, legal trouble | Only yourself, with your consent |
| Long prompts with many movements | Strange, melting clips | One subject, one motion per shot |
| Paying for "AI video mod apps" | Malware, stolen accounts | Use the official apps only |
8. Try at home
Try at home
- Pick one tip you can teach in 30 seconds.
- Ask a free chatbot for a 75-word Shorts script.
- Record the script in your own voice.
- Screen-record or film the main footage.
- Make one extra shot in YouTube Create.
- Edit, check every caption and export.
- Upload as unlisted and answer "AI use" correctly.
Recap
In short
- No single free tool makes a good YouTube video; use a pipeline.
- Free tools in October 2026: chatbots for scripts, your phone for voice, Gemini Omni and Edit with AI in YouTube Create, Google Photos "Photo to video".
- Gemini Omni in YouTube Create makes vertical clips up to 10 seconds from a prompt and up to 3 images.
- Choose "AI use: Yes" for realistic AI scenes, altered real events, real people or AI music as the main focus.
- Scripts, captions, filters and cartoon scenes need no disclosure.
- Mass-produced, repetitive videos are not eligible for monetization.
Let AI draft the script and the extra shots; keep your voice and your teaching at the centre. That is the version of an AI channel that grows and earns.

Frequently asked questions
Can I make AI videos for YouTube for free?
Yes. Use a free chatbot for the script, your own voice, and free tools such as Gemini Omni and Edit with AI in the YouTube Create app or Google Photos "Photo to video" for clips. Some features are experimental and limited to certain creators and countries.
Can AI-generated YouTube videos be monetized?
They can, if the channel is original and adds value, for example with your own voice, teaching or commentary. Mass-produced, generic or repetitive videos are not eligible for the YouTube Partner Program.
Do I have to label AI videos on YouTube?
Yes, when AI content looks real: real people saying or doing things they did not, altered real events or places, realistic scenes that did not happen, or AI music as the main focus. Choose Yes under "AI use" in YouTube Studio.
Does the AI label reduce views or earnings?
YouTube says disclosing AI content alone will not limit a video's audience or its eligibility to earn money. Hiding realistic AI can lead to penalties.
How long are Gemini Omni clips in YouTube Create?
Up to 10 seconds, vertical (9:16), from a text prompt of up to 900 characters and up to 3 reference images, as listed on YouTube Help on 19 October 2026.
