Free Generative AI Courses with Certificate (2026): Google, Microsoft, AWS and Govt of India
Four free Generative AI courses that give you a certificate or badge in October 2026: Google Skills "Introduction to Generative AI" (45 minutes, completion badge), AWS Educate "Introduction to Generative Artificial Intelligence" (free, no credit card, Credly badge after the post-course assessment), "Career Essentials in Generative AI by Microsoft and LinkedIn" (5 courses, about 4 hours, LinkedIn certificate of completion) and the Government of India's YUVA AI for ALL (a little over 4 hours, official certificate, 11 languages). They prove you finished a course; they are not the paid certification exams.
"Which free AI course gives a certificate?" is a fair question, and the internet answers it with lists of 30 courses. You do not need 30. You need one or two that match the time you have and the place you want to show the proof, plus one small project. In this guide you will see four courses I checked today, pick yours with a short script, plan one week, and add the proof to LinkedIn the right way.
Full course chapters
This guide covers free course certificates. For the paid certification exams (AWS AI Practitioner, Microsoft and Google), read AI Certifications Compared: AWS vs Microsoft vs Google. To turn learning into a job, read AI Jobs in India for Freshers.
What you will learn in this guide
- Four free courses with proof
- Certificate vs badge vs exam
- Picking a course with a script
- A one-week study plan
- Adding the proof to LinkedIn
- Spotting fake "free" offers
1. Suppose Riya has two free evenings
Suppose Riya works in accounts and has two free evenings this week. She wants to learn Generative AI and have something to show on LinkedIn. She searches "free AI course with certificate" and finds a page that asks for ₹999 to "unlock the certificate". Is there a real free option? Yes, several, from the companies that make the tools and from the Government of India.
2. The four courses (checked on 19 October 2026)
| Course | From | Length | What you get | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Introduction to Generative AI | Google Skills | 45 minutes | Completion badge | A quick first idea of GenAI |
| Introduction to Generative Artificial Intelligence | AWS Educate | Short course; see its page | Credly badge after passing the assessment | Students, cloud learners, ages 13+ |
| Career Essentials in Generative AI | Microsoft and LinkedIn | 5 courses, about 4 hours | LinkedIn certificate of completion | Working people, LinkedIn profile |
| YUVA AI for ALL | Government of India (FutureSkills Prime, iGOT Karmayogi, DIKSHA) | A little over 4 hours | Government of India certificate | Learning in an Indian language |
Notes for each:
- Google Skills: search "Introduction to Generative AI" on Google Skills. It is offered at no cost and explains what GenAI is, how it differs from older machine learning, and Google's tools.
- AWS Educate: sign up with an email; no credit card is needed. Finish the course, pass the post-course assessment, and the badge is issued on Credly. AWS Skill Builder also has over 1,000 free resources; its paid subscription ($29 a month or $449 a year) is not needed for this course.
- Microsoft and LinkedIn: a LinkedIn Learning path of 5 courses with a certificate of completion. LinkedIn showed the path was updated on 2 October 2026. It has been offered at no cost; check it shows as free when you sign in. If you then pass Microsoft's free on-demand assessment, you can also earn the Microsoft Azure AI Essentials Professional Certificate.
- YUVA AI for ALL: launched by the Government of India in January 2026. 6 modules covering what AI is, using it well (with the CRAFT prompt formula) and using it safely (the FAST ethics checks). Enrol at futureskillsprime.in/course/yuva-ai-for-all/.
Figure 1. From free badge to job proof: a short course badge, a certificate of completion, a paid certification exam, then a project people can try.
3. Certificate, badge or certification?
| Word | What it means | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Badge | You finished a short course, sometimes with a quiz | Google Skills, AWS Educate (Credly) |
| Certificate of completion | You finished a longer path | Microsoft and LinkedIn, YUVA AI for ALL |
| Certification | You passed a proctored exam, usually paid | AWS Certified AI Practitioner |
All three are useful. Only the last one is an exam, so do not call a completion certificate a "certification" on your resume.
4. Worked example 1: pick your course (Python)
This script filters the four courses by the time you have and what you want.
# Free Generative AI courses with a certificate or badge, checked on 19 October 2026.
courses = [
# name, provider, hours (None = not stated by the provider), length as stated, proof, good for
("Introduction to Generative AI", "Google Skills", 0.75, "45 minutes",
"completion badge", {"basics"}),
("Introduction to Generative Artificial Intelligence", "AWS Educate", None, "check the course page",
"Credly badge after the assessment", {"basics", "cloud"}),
("YUVA AI for ALL", "Govt of India, FutureSkills Prime", 4.0, "a little over 4 hours",
"Government of India certificate", {"basics", "india", "language"}),
("Career Essentials in Generative AI", "Microsoft and LinkedIn", 4.0, "about 4 hours",
"LinkedIn certificate of completion", {"basics", "work", "linkedin"}),
]
def pick(hours_free, wants):
fits = [c for c in courses if (c[2] is None or c[2] <= hours_free) and wants & c[5]]
return sorted(fits, key=lambda c: (-len(wants & c[5]), 99 if c[2] is None else c[2]))
people = {
"Riya, 2 hours, wants cloud basics": (2, {"cloud"}),
"Imran, 5 hours, wants a certificate for LinkedIn": (5, {"linkedin", "work"}),
"Meena, 5 hours, wants to learn in her own language": (5, {"language"}),
"Joel, 1 hour, wants the basics": (1, {"basics"}),
}
for who, (h, w) in people.items():
print(who)
for name, where, _, length, proof, _ in pick(h, w):
print(f" - {name} ({where}), {length} -> {proof}")
Real output (19 October 2026):
Riya, 2 hours, wants cloud basics
- Introduction to Generative Artificial Intelligence (AWS Educate), check the course page -> Credly badge after the assessment
Imran, 5 hours, wants a certificate for LinkedIn
- Career Essentials in Generative AI (Microsoft and LinkedIn), about 4 hours -> LinkedIn certificate of completion
Meena, 5 hours, wants to learn in her own language
- YUVA AI for ALL (Govt of India, FutureSkills Prime), a little over 4 hours -> Government of India certificate
Joel, 1 hour, wants the basics
- Introduction to Generative AI (Google Skills), 45 minutes -> completion badge
- Introduction to Generative Artificial Intelligence (AWS Educate), check the course page -> Credly badge after the assessment
The script leaves AWS Educate's length as "check the course page" because AWS did not state it where I checked. Never fill a missing number with a guess.
5. Worked example 2: a one-week plan with an AI study buddy
Riya picks Google Skills for evening 1 and Career Essentials for the rest of the week.
| Evening | Do this | Time |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Google Skills: Introduction to Generative AI | 45 minutes |
| 2 to 4 | Career Essentials: about 1 course each evening | 1 to 1.5 hours |
| 5 | Last course, then the LinkedIn certificate | 1 hour |
| 6 | Use what you learnt on one real task (dummy data) | 1 hour |
A study-buddy prompt after each module:
I just finished a beginner course module on [topic]. Ask me 5 short questions,
one at a time, to check my understanding. After each answer, tell me if I am right
and explain in 2 lines. Do not give the answer before I try.
Expected output (yours will be similar, not the same): one question such as "What is a large language model, in one sentence?", a pause for your answer, then short feedback and the next question. Use this instead of guessing your way through a course quiz.
Ravindra Bagale's Tip
Many learners collect five certificates and still cannot answer "what did you build?". Finish one course, then spend the next evening using it on a small task you can show. One certificate plus one project beats five certificates alone.
6. Worked example 3: add the proof to LinkedIn
- Download or copy the link to your certificate or Credly badge.
- On your LinkedIn profile, choose Add profile section, then Licenses & certifications.
- Name: the exact course name, for example "Career Essentials in Generative AI".
- Issuing organisation: the real issuer (LinkedIn, Google, Amazon Web Services or the government portal).
- Credential URL: paste the certificate or badge link so anyone can check it.
- Write one line in your About or a post about what you did with it.
A prompt for that line:
I finished [course name] from [issuer]. I used it to [one small task with dummy data].
Write a LinkedIn post of 60 words: what I learnt, what I made, one lesson.
No hashtag spam, no exaggeration.
Expected output (yours will be similar, not the same): a short, honest post naming the course and your small task. Edit it so it sounds like you; remove anything you did not do.
7. Spot fake "free certificate" offers
- A fee to "unlock" a free certificate from Google, Microsoft or AWS: the official ones above do not charge for the certificate.
- A "guaranteed job" with the course: no free course guarantees a job.
- A link that is not the official site: start from the provider's own site or the government portal.
- Asking for card details "for verification" on a free course: close the page.
8. Beginner mistakes and quick fixes
| Mistake | What happens | Quick fix |
|---|---|---|
| Collecting many short badges | Profile looks busy, no proof of skill | One course plus one project |
| Calling a course certificate a "certification" | Looks careless to recruiters | Use the exact name and issuer |
| Paying a third party to "unlock" a free certificate | Money lost | Use only the official course pages |
| Skipping the AWS Educate assessment | No badge issued | Pass the post-course assessment |
| Adding a certificate without a link | Hard to verify | Always paste the credential URL |
| Not using the course on a task | Forget it in a week | Use it on a dummy task the next evening |
9. Try at home
Try at home
- Write down the hours you have this week.
- Run the script with your hours and goal.
- Enrol from the official course page.
- Finish one module, then use the study-buddy prompt.
- Complete the course and download the proof.
- Add it to LinkedIn with the credential URL.

Yes. YUVA AI for ALL is free, takes a little over 4 hours, gives a Government of India certificate and is available in 11 languages on FutureSkills Prime, iGOT Karmayogi and DIKSHA.
Is the Microsoft and LinkedIn Generative AI certificate free?
The Career Essentials in Generative AI path has been offered at no cost with a LinkedIn certificate of completion. Check that it shows as free when you sign in, as offers can change.
Is a free course certificate the same as AWS or Microsoft certification?
No. Free course certificates show you finished a course. Certifications such as AWS Certified AI Practitioner are proctored, usually paid exams.
Do free AI certificates help get a job?
They help a little, mainly to show you are learning. A small project you can demo, with the certificate linked on LinkedIn, helps far more.
