Course: Cyber Security · Chapter 48: CEH v13 Exam Modules Map and Practice Questions

Chapter 48 maps the CEH v13 exam modules; this lab turns that map into a personal revision tracker and a first practice test.

Chala mitrano! CEH has 20 modules, and reading all of them again and again is the slowest way to prepare. Smart students measure: which modules am I weak in? Which questions did I get wrong and why? Today we build a tracker, take a 20-question test, and turn every mistake into a note. Chuka hech guru!

Suppose we are…

Suppose our employer, HCLTech, will sponsor the CEH exam if we pass an internal mock test in six weeks. We have limited evenings, so we need a plan that shows exactly where to spend time. We build a tracker for the 20 CEH v13 modules, linked to the labs we have already done, and start with a 20-question diagnostic test (original practice questions, not real exam questions).

Goal of this lab

By the end you will have:

  • A tracker with all 20 modules, your confidence (1–5) and the course labs for each.
  • A 20-question practice score, by module.
  • A one-line note for every wrong answer, and a 2-week revision plan for your three weakest modules.

What you need (all free)

  • Excel or Google Sheets, a timer and the two files below. About 60 minutes.

Safety and ethics

Use original practice questions and official study material only. Sharing or using leaked real exam questions ("dumps") breaks EC-Council's exam rules and can get your certification revoked. The skills in the modules must be practised only in your own lab.

Steps

  1. Open ceh_tracker.csv in Excel or Google Sheets (File → Import in Sheets). Save it as ceh_tracker.xlsx (or keep it as a Google Sheet).

What you should see: 20 rows, Module 1 "Introduction to Ethical Hacking" to Module 20 "Cryptography", with the course chapters/labs for each, for example Module 15 SQL Injection → 29.

  2. Fill Confidence (1-5) honestly for every module: 1 = never heard of it, 3 = can explain it, 5 = can teach it and did the lab.

  3. Open ceh_practice_20.txt. Do not scroll to the answer key. Set a timer for 20 minutes (about 1 minute per question; the real exam allows about 1.5 minutes per question).
  4. Write your answers on paper: Q1 = ? … Q20 = ?.
  5. When the timer ends, scroll to ANSWER KEY and mark each answer right or wrong.
  6. In the tracker, write 1 (right) or 0 (wrong) in Practice Q result for each module (question N belongs to module N).
  7. For every wrong answer, write one line in Notes on wrong answers in this format: "I chose X because… The right answer is Y because… Lab to redo: …".

What you should see: a short, specific note, for example: "Chose RST; open ports reply SYN/ACK, closed ports RST. Redo Lab 19 step 4."

  8. Add a column Priority with this formula in row 2 and fill down (Excel or Sheets):

    =(5-D2)+IF(F2=0,2,0)

Low confidence and a wrong answer give a higher priority.

  9. Sort the table by Priority, largest first (Data → Sort).

What you should see: your three weakest modules at the top.

  10. Write a 2-week plan for those three: which chapter to re-read, which lab to redo, and a date. Put the date in Last revised when you finish each one.

  11. Retake the 20 questions after two weeks and compare scores.

Ravindra Bagale's Tip

The note on a wrong answer is more valuable than ten right answers. Most mistakes come from three causes: didn't know, misread the question (missed "NOT" or "BEST"), or mixed up two similar terms. Write which one it was. Pattern kalla ki score vadhto!

Common mistakes

Mistake What happens Fix
Looking at the answer key while answering The score means nothing Cover it; answer all 20 first
Rating every module 4 No clear priority Be honest; 1–2 is fine
Writing "careless mistake" as the note You learn nothing Write why you chose it and why the right one is right
Revising strong modules because they feel good Weak modules stay weak Follow the Priority column
Using exam dumps Rule violation, risk of losing the certificate Original questions and official material only

Try-at-home challenge

Write 2 new practice questions of your own for your weakest module, each with 4 options, the answer and a one-line reason. Why does writing questions help you learn?

Check your answer

A good question has one clearly right answer and three wrong options that are common confusions (for example SYN/ACK vs RST for open vs closed ports). To write those wrong options you must understand exactly where people get confused, which is the deepest kind of revision. Add your questions to the end of ceh_practice_20.txt for your next round.

Samjla ka? Measure, test, note every mistake, revise the weakest first. Aata pudhe jaauya: Chapter 49 builds your own cheat sheet.
