6. SSH into Azure VM and Install Nginx
6.1 SSH from Your Laptop
Why. Without SSH you cannot install packages or debug Nginx.
What. SSH is a secure remote shell. On Windows use Windows Terminal / OpenSSH; on macOS/Linux use Terminal.
How.
- Copy the VM public IP from the portal.
- Run
ssh azureuser@YOUR_PUBLIC_IP(username as you set). - Accept host key fingerprint on first connect (verify you have the right IP).
