2.1 Microsoft Account vs Azure Subscription
Why. Students sign up with a personal Outlook ID and then wonder why “subscription” is empty. Two layers matter.
What. A Microsoft account (or work/school identity) is who you are. An Azure subscription is the billing container that holds resources and invoices.
How.
- Sign in at portal.azure.com with your Microsoft identity.
- Check Subscriptions blade — you need at least one active subscription to create resources.
- Note the subscription name and ID in your notebook (fictional lab:
rb-learn-sub).
