Google Antigravity for Beginners: Agent-First Coding (Simple)
Google Antigravity is Google's agent-first coding platform (App, CLI and IDE extensions). Agents can plan and edit across editor, terminal and browser-style workflows. As of 23 October 2026, antigravity.google/pricing lists Individuals at $0/month with access to agent models, unlimited Tab completions, unlimited Command requests, and basic weekly rate limits. Higher individual tiers add more rate limits and a flexible AI credit pool — confirm names and fees on the live pricing page before you pay. Download only from antigravity.google/download.
Suppose you want a tip calculator written by an agent, but you still review every change. You install Antigravity, give one clear task, read the diff, and refuse secrets in the prompt. This guide keeps that habit simple for beginners in India.

What you will learn in this guide
- What Antigravity means in plain words
- Free individual tier facts
- Tip calculator task
- Review the diff safely
- Deploy-to-folder checklist
- No-secrets rules
1. Suppose Rohan hands an agent a tiny app task
Suppose Rohan wants a tip calculator for restaurant bills in India (service tip percent). He installs Antigravity, creates a practice folder, and asks the agent to build only that. He reads the diff before saving.
2. What is Google Antigravity?
| Word | Simple meaning |
|---|---|
| Antigravity | Google agentic development platform |
| Agent | AI that can take a task and edit / run steps with your oversight |
| App | Desktop command center for agents and projects |
CLI (agy) |
Terminal client for Antigravity |
| Rate limits | Weekly caps on how much agent work you can run |
Figure 1. Google Antigravity beginner path in five steps: download from the official site, open a practice folder, give one clear task, review the diff, then run the app yourself.
3. Pricing (checked 23 October 2026)
Source: antigravity.google/pricing.
| Tier (public page) | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Individuals (entry) | $0 / month | Agent models access; unlimited Tab completions; unlimited Command requests; basic weekly rate limits |
| Higher individual tiers | See live page | More rate limits + flexible AI credit pool |
| Business | Via Google Cloud | Org access through Google Cloud |
Always re-open the pricing page on the day you upgrade. Do not invent INR fees if Google shows USD.
4. Worked example 1: "make a tip calculator" task
- Download for Windows / Mac / Linux from antigravity.google/download.
- Create folder
practice-tip/and open it in Antigravity (App or IDE extension). - Give this task:
Create tip_calculator.py for beginners.
Inputs: bill amount (INR) and tip percent.
Print tip amount and total, rounded to 2 decimals.
No network calls. No GUI frameworks. Show a plan first, then the files.
- Watch the plan. Allow file create only inside
practice-tip/. - Run:
python tip_calculator.pyand enter1000and10→ tip100.00, total1100.00.
Expected output: a small script you understand well enough to explain in a viva.
Ravindra Bagale's Tip
Students say "build me a full Swiggy clone" on day one and hit rate limits. Give one function, one file, one test.
5. Worked example 2: review the diff safely
- Ask the agent to add input validation (reject negative bills).
- When the diff appears, check:
- Only
tip_calculator.py(or a test file) changed - No new.envwith secrets - Norequests/ browser automation you did not ask for - Reject the change if it touches unrelated folders.
- Accept, then run two cases:
0tip and invalid negative bill.
Expected output: validation that fails clearly; no surprise network code.
6. Worked example 3: deploy-to-folder checklist (no secrets)
Copy this checklist into a note before any "deploy" request:
ANTIGRAVITY FOLDER CHECKLIST
[ ] Practice folder only (not C:\ or /home entire tree)
[ ] No real API keys in prompts — use [API_KEY]
[ ] No customer CSV / Aadhaar / bank files in the folder
[ ] Diff reviewed line by line
[ ] Script runs offline for this exercise
[ ] I can explain the code in my own words
[ ] Rate-limit warning: stop when weekly limit nears
- Ask the agent only to zip or copy files into
practice-tip/dist/if you need a handoff folder. - Do not ask it to push secrets to GitHub.
- If you later use git, create the repo yourself and review
.gitignore.
Expected output: a clean folder you could show a teacher, without credentials.
7. Windows CLI install note (optional)
Official PowerShell installer (from Google docs):
irm https://antigravity.google/cli/install.ps1 | iex
Then check agy --version. Prefer the App UI for your first week if the terminal feels hard.
8. Beginner mistakes and quick fixes
| Mistake | What happens | Quick fix |
|---|---|---|
| Huge multi-app task | Rate limit / mess | One tiny app |
| Blind approve | Broken code | Read diffs |
| Secrets in prompt | Leak risk | Placeholders |
| Unofficial download | Malware risk | antigravity.google only |
| Ignoring weekly limits | Sudden stops | Plan small tasks |
9. Try at home
Try at home
- Install from the official download page.
- Build the tip calculator and add one validation.
- Fill the folder checklist once on paper.
