Read this guide in: English ·

IF function test TRUE

IF decide करता है। एक test, दो outcomes, fill down।

Vertical steps:

  3. =IF(B2>=100,"High","Low") टाइप करो।
  4. Enter।
  5. Column fill down।
  6. Number बदलो — label flip होगा।
=IF(B2>=100,"High","Low")

Before और after

Before

City Amount
Mumbai 150
Pune 80

After (Status column)

City Amount Status
Mumbai 150 High
Pune 80 Low
Before IF City amounts without status.

Before

After IF IF labels High and Low.

After

  2. Marks पर Pass/Fail — वही pattern।
  3. Phone-bill style: bill ≥ 1000 → “Over budget”, else “OK”।

IF क्या है?

Formula parts

=IF(B2>=100,"High","Low")
  1. B2>=100 — test।
  3. "Low" — false

  1. Mumbai row: 150 ≥ 100 → TRUE → High।
  2. Pune row: 80 ≥ 100 → FALSE → Low।

Vertical practice steps

  2. C2 में IF formula।
  3. C3 तक fill।
  4. Pune 120 करो → High।
  5. Pass/Fail: marks पर =IF(C2>=35,"Pass","Fail")।
  6. बाद में: nested IF या IFS तीन bands (course)।

Nested IF — सिर्फ़ preview

=IF(B2>=150,"Elite",IF(B2>=100,"High","Low"))

Ravindra Bagale's Tip

Practice task

  2. Status IF ≥ 100।
  3. दूसरी sheet पर marks Pass/Fail।

Samajla ka? IF = test, then, else. High/Low और Pass/Fail एक ही idea। आगे SUMIF try करो।

Frequently asked questions

What does IF do?

IF runs a logical test. If TRUE it returns the second argument; if FALSE it returns the third.

Basic IF syntax?

IF(logical_test, value_if_true, value_if_false). Quotes around text results.

Pass/Fail example?

IF(C2>=35,"Pass","Fail") for a marks sheet — same idea as High/Low on sales.

When do I nest IF?

When you need more than two outcomes. Prefer IFS in newer Excel when available.

IF shows FALSE unexpectedly?

Often a missing else value, or the test never matches because of text vs number.
