1.8 Roles students see in job posts
Job titles overlap. Focus on what you own, not the logo on the badge.
| Title (common) | Typical ownership | Overlap |
|---|---|---|
| DevOps engineer | Pipelines, infra as code, deploy automation, env consistency | Often cloud + scripting |
| SRE (Site Reliability Engineer) | Reliability goals (SLOs), toil reduction, incident response | Google-style ops engineering |
| Cloud engineer | Cloud accounts, networking, IAM, managed services | Deep AWS/Azure/GCP |
| Platform engineer | Internal developer platform, self-service tools | Serves other teams |
| Full-stack / backend | Application code; may share on-call | Needs DevOps habits too |
In small Indian product teams, one person may wear two hats. In larger firms, DevOps/platform builds the path; developers push through it; SRE watches reliability.
This course aims at a junior / associate DevOps shape: Git fluency, Docker, one CI system hands-on, light Ansible and Terraform, monitoring basics, Kubernetes vocabulary, plus a portfolio lab. Deep VPC design stays in the AWS Cloud course. Security attack labs stay in Cyber Security.

Khup students resume var "DevOps" lihun Docker tutorial fakt dakhavtat. Hiring manager process vicharto: branching, code review, rollback, secrets. Tools + story donhi ready theva. Dhyan rakho!
Lab
On paper or a whiteboard, draw the Instagram-style badge path: code → build → test → staging → production. For each gate write (1) what check happens, (2) who owns a fail (developer, DevOps, or shared), (3) how you roll back. Keep it to one page.
