Chapter 05 · SAP S/4HANA, BTP & ERP
Fiori Launchpad Idea for Beginners
Fiori is role-based tiles in a browser — the modern SAP doorway users see.
Why this matters
End users in many S/4 landscapes open Fiori, not the old dense GUI first. Knowing the idea helps functional consultants speak to UX and security roles.
What you will learn
You will learn what a launchpad shows, how catalogues/roles relate at a high level, and why mobile-friendly apps matter.
How to do it
Practice only on systems you are allowed to use. Screenshots of customer data must follow NDA rules.
Steps (do these in order)
- Step 1 — Launchpad picture. Browser home of tiles grouped by role — Purchase Officer sees different tiles than Finance Accountant.
- Step 2 — App vs t-code. Classic: VA01-style codes. Fiori: app names and intents. Both may exist during transition.
- Step 3 — Role idea. Security assigns roles → tiles appear. Users should not get every app “just in case”.
- Step 4 — Beginner habit. Learn the business app name and the process, not only a code memorised from a PDF.
- Step 5 — Accessibility. Good Fiori apps are clearer on laptops used on shop floors and in shared offices.
Practice
- List five tiles a fictional SD user might need (order, delivery, billing-related).
- Explain to a friend why role-based tiles beat one shared super-user login.
