15.6 Reaching the app — port-forward (kind-friendly)
On kind, LoadBalancer/NodePort exposure needs extra steps. For beginners, kubectl port-forward is the honest lab path:
kubectl -n badge-api port-forward svc/badge-api 8080:80
# other terminal
curl -sS http://127.0.0.1:8080/health
What you see: health JSON/text from your API. Stop port-forward with Ctrl+C when done.
Optional later: Ingress controllers, kind extra port mappings — out of scope for this intro; do not invent a full cloud load balancer chapter here. Managed Kubernetes (EKS…) belongs with AWS networking depth elsewhere.
