Chapter 15: Kubernetes Introduction

15.12d Loading a local image into kind (common lab snag)

If your image exists only on the laptop Docker engine and not in a registry:

# sketch — confirm flag names with `kind load -h` for your version
kind load docker-image badge-api:sha-a3f2c1 --name badge-api
kubectl -n badge-api set image deploy/badge-api api=badge-api:sha-a3f2c1
# or edit YAML image field to match the loaded tag and apply again

What you see: Pods leave ImagePullBackOff once the node has the image. If still pulling from the internet, your tag string does not match what you loaded.

Practice task

Write four bullets: when you would kind load versus push to GHCR, and which one Capstone path B might use on a train Wi-Fi day.
