2.1 Install Python 3

You need Python 3.10+. On Windows, install from python.org and tick Add Python to PATH. On Linux/macOS, use the system installer or brew / apt as your OS docs recommend.

Steps — check Python

  1. Open a terminal (Command Prompt, PowerShell or bash).
  2. Run python --version or python3 --version.
  3. Confirm you see Python 3.10 or newer.
  4. Run python -m pip --version to confirm pip (package installer) works.

What you should see. A version line like Python 3.12.x and a pip version. If python fails, try python3.
