Excel and Power BI Dashboards for Campaigns

Put channel data in one sheet or Power BI page so weekly reviews stay calm.

~4 min readBeginner

Why this matters

Founders ask “what worked last week?”. A clean table of spend, clicks, enquiries and notes beats twenty screenshots. Your Excel and Power BI courses on this site go deeper; here we only shape the marketing view.

What you will learn

You will define columns, one weekly review ritual, and KPIs named correctly (CTR, CPC, ROAS as definitions — not targets).

How to do it

No invented benchmarks. Use your real (or sample) data only.

Steps (do these in order)

  1. Step 1 — Column list. Date, Channel, Campaign, Spend (if any), Clicks, Enquiries, Notes. Add UTM campaign name.
  2. Step 2 — Define KPIs. CTR = clicks/impressions. CPC = spend/clicks. ROAS = revenue/spend when revenue is known. Write definitions in the sheet.
  3. Step 3 — Sample rows. Three fictional weeks for organic vs ads — clearly marked sample.
  4. Step 4 — Power BI link. If you already use Power BI course templates, connect the same columns; else Excel is enough.
  5. Step 5 — Weekly ritual. 30 minutes: what we tried, what we learned, what we stop. Write it in Notes.

Practice

  • Create the empty sheet with headers and one sample week.
  • Explain CTR vs CPC to a friend in two sentences each.
